Lucca

Description

Lucca is one the most charming of all the smaller, historic cities in Italy, encircled by its magnificent Renaissance city walls. The walls are still complete and are enjoyed by visitors and locals alike, who promenade and cycle along them each evening, looking down on the lovely city, churches, houses and gardens below.  Lucca has a special atmosphere – it remains a vibrant Tuscan city, all year round – with warm, friendly, welcoming people; fascinating churches; beautiful piazzas (the Piazza Anfiteatro is fabulous!); great shopping (particularly on Via Filalungo); and excellent restaurants, cafes and wine bars. Lucca is a great city in which to wander, listen, look and absorb – you will want to return!
